Earn While You Learn
Health Training Australia (HTA) offers the opportunity to start your career in health and community services. Complete your Nationally Recognised Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Disability or Home & Community Care) while you are employed on a Traineeship.
Employment on a Traineeship with HTA is dependent upon meeting the eligibility requirements, selection, available positions and successfully completing the FREE three day Preparation for Employment course and 40 hour work-experience placement.
Host Employers are located throughout the Perth metropolitan area. HTA also offer select rural placements in Bunbury, Busselton and Mandurah. Traineeship positions are subject to host employer vacancies.
What is an HTA Traineeship?
A Traineeship with HTA is a flexible employment based training arrangement available to people of all ages. It allows the trainee the opportunity to train, work and earn money in an area of interest – all while working towards achieving a set of competencies that make up a nationally recognised qualification.
Traineeships are usually completed within seven to nine months, and includes a combination of paid on and off-the-job employment and training.
HTA sources employment for successful applicants with one of our host employers to undertake on-the-job employment and training, and provides a class based session one day a week in our well-equipped training rooms.
Upon completion of your Traineeship, there is also the possibility of ongoing employment and the opportunity to continue to upskill with a Certificate IV, short courses or dual qualifications.

Commence a Traineeship
Before being selected for a HTA traineeship, applicants must be deemed suitable after successfully completing the FREE three day Preparation for Employment course in Nedlands (or in Bunbury for rural placements) and 40 hours of work experience.
During the 40 hours of unpaid work experience, candidates have the opportunity to work within an organisation and decide whether the care industry is the role for them. It is also a valuable time for Host Employer to assess whether the candidate is suitable for their organisation and will determine whether a traineeship will be offered.
Candidates offered a Traineeship will sign an employment contract with HTA and training contract with the Apprenticeship Office. Trainees will complete a Nationally Recognised Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Disability or Home & Community Care) and will be employed by HTA for the duration of their training.
Subsidised training fees are applicable with payment plan options available (a concession rate may be available to eligible applicants).
