Health Training Australia provides nationally recognised training
in accordance with the Australian Quality Training Framework for:
- Aged care workers
- Home and Community Carers
- Hospital Support Workers in hospitals and aged care facilities.
Training courses are offered on a fee for service basis or under
a traineeship arrangement.
HTA Training Centre
Training is delivered at the HTA Training
Centre at 10 Selby St, Shenton Park. Depending on the course,
training normally runs between 9.00am and 2.30pm unless otherwise
specified.

specifically to meet the requirements of the health and community
services sector. Course information is provided below.

Skills Recognition
Skills Recognition is a process whereby a person, with industry
experience, can gain recognition of their skills and receive a
certificate qualification or Statement of Attainment) part without
completing a training course or traineeship. Health Training Australia
offers Skills Recognition in the following qualifications:
Traineeships
Training is funded by the Department of Education and Training.
Training can occur either off the job or on the job depending on
the traineeship undertaken. Off the job training occurs at the HTA
Training Centre in Shenton Park. For information on traineeships

Training Fees
Under the Vocational Education and Training Regulations a training
provider is required to levy a tuition fee for students to undertake
training. Contact your Traineeship Consultant for details.
Aged Care
Prior to commencing a traineeship a person must either have had
exposure to employment in aged care or have completed the Preparation
for Employment course. Manual handling techniques and Occupational
Safety and Health is essential knowledge prior to commencing work
in an aged care facility.
Training occurs off the job, one day per week over the duration
of the traineeship.
On successful completion of the traineeship the trainee will receive
a Certificate III in Aged Care Work.
Home and Community Care
Prior to commencing a traineeship, a person must have completed
the Preparation for Employment course.
Manual handling techniques and Occupational Safety and Health is
essential knowledge prior to commencing work in home care.
Trainees work under what is called "Arms Length Supervision" where
a supervisor is contactable but not working directly with the trainee.
Prior to working without direct supervision a trainee must be assessed
as competent in the following Units of Competency:
- CHCHC301B Work Effectively in a home and community care environment
- CHCHC302B Provide Personal Care in a home and community care
environment
Training occurs off the job, one day per week over the duration
of the traineeship.
On successful completion of the traineeship the trainee will receive
a Certificate III in Home and Community Care.
Health Support Services
Training occurs on the job supported by a Workplace Assessor/Trainer.
On successful completion of the traineeship, the trainee will
receive a Certificate II in
Health Support Services (Client/Patient Support Services).
Occupational Safety and Health
HTA promotes sound Occupational Safety and Health practices and
with the support of the Australian Medical Association, Lotterywest
and information from Worksafe, have compiled the publication, Workplace
Health & Safety, a Guide for Carers. This publication covers
workplace health and safety issues for carers on the following
