Certificate IV Aged Care Work (CHC40102)

Overview

This course has been designed to give participants the knowledge, understanding and practical skills needed to provide services to individuals with complex needs and/or work with older people in a nursing home, hostel or home care environment. Workers may be required to supervise and / or co-ordinate a limited number of other workers.

Recommended for

Persons working in aged care or assisting the aged in their daily care.

Pre-Requisites

Certificate III in Aged Care Work, Certificate III in Community Services (Aged Care Work) or Certificate III in Home and Community Care.

Course Content

Includes 14 units of competency covering:

  • Provide services to older persons with complex needs/Plan and monitor service delivery plans
  • Deliver and develop client services / Utilise specialist communication skills to build strong relationships
  • Maintain organisation's information systems
  • Implement and monitor OHS policies and procedures in the workplace
  • Plan and conduct group activities
  • Work effectively with culturally diverse clients
  • Dementia
  • Provide physical assistance with medication.

Mutual Recognition

Units of Competency from your Certificate III qualification may count towards the Certificate IV in Aged Care Work and will be taken into consideration when determining the cost of the course.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this course participants will be able to:

  • Provide support and assistance to individuals with complex needs
  • Develop and deliver client services
  • Implement and monitor organisational policies, procedures and systems
  • Organise, resource and deliver a broad range of group activities
  • Provide support to people with dementia in a variety of organisational settings
  • Understanding of medication administration aqnd distribution, policies and procedures.

Assessment

Written assignments and classroom based assessments.

Qualification/ Employment

On successful completion participants will receive a Nationally Recognised Certificate IV in Aged Care Work.
