Certificate III in Aged Care (CHC30208)
Overview
This course has been designed to give participants the knowledge, understanding and practical skills needed to work as an aged care worker in a nursing home, hostel or home care environment. It is recommended for people working in or interested in working in the aged care sector.
On successful completion participants will receive a Nationally Recognised Certificate III in Aged Care. Certificate III in Aged Care is the desired qualification sought by many care organisations when employing staff.
Course Content
Includes 14 units of competency covering:
- The process of ageing
- An older persons physical, emotional and behavioural needs
- Working in the aged care sector, teamwork, information and reporting tasks
- Specialised units on dementia, disabilities, palliative care and first aid
- Occupational health and safety
- Manual handling

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course participants will be able to:
- Provide support and assistance to older people to meet their physical, emotional and behavioural needs
- Communicate effectively with older people and team members
- Work in a safe and effective manner in the aged care sector
