The Information Technology (General) Traineeship will help develop
the knowledge and skills you need to work in IT support. It is
a form of nationally recognised training that is widely accepted
by industry as an effective way to develop qualified IT employees.
The Certificate III in Information Technology (General) consists
of the following competencies:

This unit expresses the competency required to implement

ICAITS025B: Run standard
diagnostic tests
This unit defines the competency required to conduct diagnostic
tests on a range of platforms. |
ICAITS115A: Maintain
equipment and software in working order
This unit describes the competency required to follow maintenance
procedures and to keep equipment and software operating. |
ICAITS021B: Connect
internal hardware components
This unit defines the competency required to connect
internal hardware components according to specifications. |
ICAITU018B: Develop macros
and templates for clients using standard protocols
This unit expresses competency required to develop macros
and templates for clients using industry recognised software
applications. |
ICAITD128A: Create user
and technical documentation
Define and document reference material to use, support and
maintain systems. |
ICAITS031B: Provide advice
to clients
This unit expresses the competency required to convey comprehensive
technical information to clients |
ICAITU126A: Use advanced
features of computer applications
This unit describes the competency required to utilise
computer applications to their full capacity employing all
advanced features as required.

This unit expresses the competency required to technically
manage elements of a network. |
ICAITS020B: Install & optimise
system software
This unit defines the competency required to apply aspects
of systems optimisation. |

Requiring 15 units to achieve the qualification
- 11 units from the Core field listed above
- 4 electives, two of which can be drawn from any other nationally
endorsed Training Package
