ACSWA Excellence in Care Awards 2010
The Aged and Community Services WA (ACSWA) Awards were presented on Friday, 11 June 2010 at Perth Convention Exhibition Centre. Guests were treated to a delicious dinner and live entertainment from popular local band, One Step Ahead. ABC Broadcaster Karen Tighe was MC and Senator Rachael Siwert was the special guest.
The Australian Medical Association (WA) sponsored the ACSWA Trainee of the Year and the award was presented by Ms Noelle Jones, Director of Health and Community Services.
Once again trainees from Health Training Australia did very well. Wyartte Pene and Ian Topia were nominated by their host employer and HTA as outstanding trainees worthy of consideration for the ACSWA Excellence in Care Trainee Award. Both were selected as finalists, and invited to attend the gala dinner. Wyartte was runner up in the award against tough competition and received a special Certificate of Commendation from ACSWA for his achievements in the industry.
Excellence in Care Award winners will be forwarded as State nominations for the Aged and Community Services Australia (ACSA) National Award in 2010. National Award finalists and winners will be announced at the Annual ACSA Conference, to be held this year in Hobart on 19–23 September 2010.
Congratulations to Wyartte and Ian.
